Business Accounting

BAS & GST Services in Melbourne

Accurate Business Activity Statements from reconciled records — with reminders well before each due date.

Overview

How we can help

If your business is registered for GST, you'll lodge a Business Activity Statement (BAS) monthly, quarterly or annually. Your BAS may also report PAYG withholding, PAYG instalments and other obligations.

We reconcile your records before preparing each statement, so the figures reported to the ATO are accurate and supportable — and you know what's payable well before it's due.

Good to Know

Key things to know

  1. 01

    Quarterly due dates

Quarterly BAS is generally due on the 28th day of the month after the quarter ends — except the October–December quarter, generally due 28 February. Different dates can apply when lodged through a registered agent.

  2. 02

    Cash or accrual GST

Businesses with turnover under $10 million can generally choose to account for GST on a cash basis, reporting GST when payment is received or made.

  3. 03

Lodge even if you can't pay

Lodging on time avoids failure-to-lodge penalties. If you can't pay in full, the ATO offers payment plans.

FAQs

Common questions

General information only. Your circumstances may differ — contact us for advice specific to you.

What happens if I lodge my BAS late?

The ATO may apply penalties and interest. If you're behind, act early — we can help you catch up and, where appropriate, arrange a payment plan.

Monthly or quarterly BAS?

Most small businesses lodge quarterly. Businesses with GST turnover of $20 million or more must report monthly, and some choose monthly for cash-flow reasons.

Can you lodge my BAS for me?

We prepare your BAS and explain the figures for your approval. We'll confirm how lodgement is handled when we agree the scope of work.
