Business Tax Planning

See your tax position before 30 June — while there's still time to make sensible decisions about it.

Overview

How we can help

Most business owners find out how much tax they owe after the year has ended. Tax planning reverses that: we forecast your profit and tax before 30 June so you can plan purchases, wages, super and distributions with the numbers in front of you.

Every recommendation is grounded in legitimate, commercially sensible decisions — not schemes. If something doesn't make business sense, it doesn't make tax sense either.

Good to Know

Key things to know

  1. 01

    Plan before 30 June

Many planning opportunities, like asset purchases, super contributions and trust resolutions, must happen before the year ends.

  2. 02

    Spend for business reasons

A deduction only reduces tax by your tax rate. Buying something you don't need just for the deduction usually leaves you worse off.

  3. 03

    Beware of schemes

The ATO actively targets arrangements whose main purpose is avoiding tax. Legitimate planning focuses on timing and genuine business decisions.

  4. General information only, current at the time of writing. Rules change — please confirm how they apply to you.

FAQs

Common questions

General information only. Your circumstances may differ — contact us for advice specific to you.

When is the best time for business tax planning?

April to May, once you have reliable year-to-date figures but still time to act.

Should I buy a new vehicle before 30 June?

Only if the business needs it. The asset must be used or installed ready for use by 30 June to claim it that year, and different rules apply to cars.

Can you help reduce PAYG instalments?

If your income is expected to fall, instalments can be varied. Varying too low can attract penalties, so we'll check the numbers first.
